Cycling Travel Trend #3: Crossing the Alps

Cycling across the Alps isn’t exactly a new trend but crossing these majestic mountains under your own power is a dream for many avid cyclists. The range enchants with its towering peaks, lush alpine meadows, and rugged cliffs. While not everyone may feel ready to embark on such a journey at first, those who have will all share the same conclusion: unforgettable moments, countless goosebump-inducing experiences, and pure cycling bliss are part of every Alpine adventure.

Alpe-Adria Cycle Path

The renowned Alpe-Adria Cycle Path begins in the Mozart city of Salzburg, meandering through the Salzach and Gastein Valleys toward Carinthia. From Villach, it continues to the Austrian-Italian border, passing through charming towns like Tarvis and Udine, before reaching the Italian Adriatic coast at Grado. The route stretches for approximately 410 kilometers. Along the way, you'll ascend about 2,400 meters and descend around 2,800 meters. Of course, you don’t have to tackle all 410 kilometers in one go. At Eurobike, we offer the perfect route for every skill level and preference.

Our tip - The Mur Cycle Path

If you cycle the Murradweg from its source in Lungau to its end in Croatia, you’ll cover an impressive 475 kilometers. However, we believe the most beautiful section lies in Austria. At certain points, you can cycle along both shores of the Mur. Please check your travel documents for our recommended side and the reasons behind our chosen route. Due to the diverse landscapes it traverses, the Mur cycle path is one of the most popular cycling paths in the country. See for yourself!
