Cyclist enjoys the view of Valdemossa and the mountains

Summer, sun, sand – what more could you want? The starting point of this wonderful cycle tour is Playa de Palma on the picturesque Balearic island of Majorca. Explore the Spanish island in a different way – on two wheels. Far away from the parties, clubs and crowded tourist hotspots, the Majorca tour focuses on culture and enjoyment. What to expect? Charming fishing villages, pristine bays and coasts as well as wonderful beaches. And of course one or two cultural highlights can’t be forgotten!

Towards the sun on Majorca’s cycle paths: accompanied by the sound of the sea, you cycle from one picturesque town to the next. The further you move away from the tourist locations, the more the unique flair of the island becomes clear. You will see: Majorca shows another side!

The focus is on relaxation, enjoyment and culinary delights. Be it cooling off in the glittering Mediterranean Sea or a leisurely stroll through one of the historic city centres. In other words: just let your mind wander and enjoy the delicacies of Spanish cuisine. When you think of paella, fine wines and seafood, your mouth will water. Delicious!

  • ‘Es Trenc’: From Palma you cycle along the coastal cycle path towards Colònia Sant Jordi. Shortly before you reach your daily goal, you will pass ‘Es Trenc’ – supposedly the most beautiful sandy beach in Majorca. Fancy a break? Enjoy this wonderful area, relax on the almost white sandy beach and cool off in the deep blue Mediterranean. Just lovely!
  • Port de Sóller: The beautiful cycle path leads along almond groves from Alcudia to Fornalutx. After an enjoyable refreshment, we continue through lemon and orange plantations to Port de Sóller, an enchanting fishing village.

Over eight days you will cycle around 270 kilometres across the beautiful island of Majorca. For ambitious cyclists there are between 50 and 60 kilometres a day on the programme. You can be happy: after the climbs there are wonderful descents to catch your breath. Ready? Let’s discover Majorca!

On our ‘Cycle Tours with Charm’ you can enjoy the full service of our individual active holidays while staying in very special accommodation with that extra something in the best location. That means you can look forward to luxury furnishings and decor in the local style, as well as cuisine at the highest level. Many of our hotels with charm also offer large pools and a wellness area where you can relax after a lovely day of cycling.

Itinerary at a glance

In addition to scenic cycling routes, Mallorca offers wonderful culinary delights with regional specialties and first-class wine. Enjoy the lively island capital, idyllic beaches and pretty fishing villages.

Today you can take in the atmosphere of the island’s capital. In the evening there is a tour briefing and bike issue.

From the Placa d’Espanya you cycle by the sea and follow the coastal cycle path to Playa de Palma. Continue along the coast to Capocorp Vell, the kingdom of the Cyclops (remains of traditional houses). Wind turbines line your way to the salt fields of Llevant where you see the pink-white shimmering salt lakes. Before you reach your accommodation, you’ll find the white sandy beach ‘Es Trenc’. It’s considered the most beautiful in Majorca, so take a break or cool off in the deep blue sea.

Once again, you will love the coastal landscape in the picturesque bay of Cala Santanyi and the famous natural bridge ‘Es Pontas’. As you travel inland things become quieter. You’ll see low stone walls bordering fields. For centuries, the gnarled olive trees in the fields were protected by stately fincas.

Nowhere in the world is there so many windmills in one small area as on Majorca. In the past they were an important part of agriculture on the island. Their function was either to grind grain or to pump water into the fields. On today’s stage, you will pass some very beautiful examples.

The route takes you along beautiful paths through olive groves via Sant Joan to Petra. Here a traditional Majorcan ‘lunch snack’ is prepared for you in a restaurant on the lovely village square. Through one of the most enchanting landscapes of the island, the ‘Pla’, you will cycle to charming Santa Margalida and further on to the coast. It’s not far along the Playa del Muro until you reach your hotel in Alcudia. Enjoy the flair of the medieval city on a walk through the narrow streets.

Accompanied by almond trees you cycle along the World Heritage site of Tramuntana to the ‘leather city’ Inca. From here the transfer bus takes you to the monastery Lluc (visit possible) and further to 1200m above sea level. The departure by bike leads to one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, Fornalutx. There you can enjoy delicious paella in a cosy terrace restaurant. Continue through orange and lemon groves down to Port de Sóller, one of the island’s most charming fishing villages.

Breath-taking views of the sea are accompanying you on the last cycling day. You will cycle trough the picturesque towns of Deia and Valldemossa until you get to the West coast of the island leading you to the city of Palma. Explore the capital city with its lively boulevards, its narrow alleys and famous squares.
