Cycling along the Moselle is a truly special experience, where the region’s picturesque landscapes, gently rolling vineyards, and charming villages along the Moselle Cycle Path create a perfect backdrop. Ideal for both young and old, there’s so much to discover – from ancient Roman relics in Trier to the majestic Reichsburg Cochem Castle, serene leisure pools, and tranquil lakes, not to mention boat rides and scenic chairlift journeys. After eight delightful days, you’ll return home with a heart full of wonderful new memories.

Your holiday begins in Trier with a city tour that’s sure to delight kids – wrapped up in a treasure hunt! On the way to Mehring, you’ll pass through Riol, where you can enjoy swimming in the lakes and have fun on the summer toboggan run. Be sure to visit the Villa Rustica before cycling on to Piesport. This route is dedicated to wine, with highlights like the Trittenheim Wine Trail.

In the coming days, you’ll visit famous wine villages like Bernkastel-Kues and Traben-Trarbach. Fun and action for the whole family await with a round of mini golf. The Moselle region is architecturally shaped by half-timbered houses, as seen in the wine village of Bullay. To wrap up your cycling adventure with the whole family, two final highlights await. From Beilstein, you’ll take a boat to Cochem, where you can take the chairlift to Pinnerkreuz. To end your journey, enjoy a stunning view together!

  • A treasure hunt through Trier: Founded in 16 BC, Trier was once a major Roman metropolis. Today, the city is renowned for its many well-preserved monuments from that era, including the Porta Nigra, the best-preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps, as well as the Imperial Baths and the amphitheater. Trier also houses the impressive Cathedral and the Church of Our Lady, both part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
  • The Moselle panorama from the Pinnerkreuz: At around 270 meters above sea level, the Pinnerberg offers an observation platform with stunning views of the region. You’ll gaze out over Cochem, the vineyards, and the Moselle. By the way, you won’t have to exert yourself to get to the top – simply take the chairlift.
  • The wine villages along the Moselle are charming, historically grown communities famous worldwide for their wine production. Villages like Bernkastel-Kues, Cochem, Traben-Trarbach, and Piesport captivate with their well-preserved half-timbered houses, narrow streets, and romantic vineyards. Historical castles and a variety of leisure activities only add to the charm.

The route along the Moselle is wonderfully flat, making it a pleasure for cyclists of all levels. The bike paths are top-notch and exceptionally well-developed. You’ll cover 20 to 30 kilometers each day, leaving plenty of energy for fun activities with the whole family.

Along the Moselle, the charming villages, mild climate, and fine wines will captivate you. On the picturesque Moselle Cycle Path, you’ll pedal along the river and its loops – the charm of this region will enchant you.

Arrival in Trier. Together with your children you will discover the city on a treasure hunt. 2-hour treasure hunt. In the evening, the bikes will be handed out and the welcome talk will take place.

You start your cycle tour along the beautiful Moselle, which leads you via Pfalzel and Schweich to Mehring. A small leisure complex awaits you in Riol. The bathing lakes provide refreshment and a ride on the summer toboggan run is an exciting family adventure. In Mehring, you can still visit the remains and reconstructions of the Roman Villa Rustica at your leisure.

In Trittenheim, an educational wine trail provides information about local grape varieties. Neumagen-Dhron is considered the oldest wine village in Germany and in Piesport you can visit a Roman wine press from the 3rd century.

Before Today you cycle to Bernkastel-Kues, where the numerous small alleys and the colourful half-timbered houses are impressive. For the parents, we recommend a sample of the famous "Bernkastler Doctor".

Numerous vineyards accompany you on your bike tour today. Through the wine-growing area “Kröver Nacktarsch” you reach your day’s destination with Traben-Trarbach. On the way, many leisure pools invite you to relax. Traben-Trarbach offers some architectural masterpieces of Art Nouveau and Belle Epoque. We have included a short round of miniature golf for your family.

In Enkirch, a jewel of Moselle’s half-timbered architecture, you should take a break. Through the wine-growing region “Zeller Schwarze Katz” you cycle to Bullay. Immersed in forests and vineyards, this place has lost none of the charm and authentic romance of an old wine village.

You will arrive early in Beilstein, widely known as the Rothenburg on the Moselle. From there you will take the Moselle boat to Cochem. In Cochem, you should allow enough time to visit the charming centre as well as the Reichsburg, which dates back to the 11th century. Take the Cochem chairlift to the Pinnerkreuz viewpoint. Enjoy the view of the town and the Moselle!

Today it is time to say goodbye to the vineyards, castles and ruins. You have all the options for an individual departure. Or would you prefer to spend another day on the Moselle River for more adventures?
