The most popular cycling tours of 2024

Among this year's most popular cycling tours, you'll find many timeless classics, along with a few new ones that have quickly become customer favorites. Here, we present the three most-booked cycling tours of the past season.

Along the Danube Cycle Path from Passau to Vienna

The Waltz King Johann Strauss II immortalized the Danube with his masterpiece “The Blue Danube”, and once again, the Danube Cycle Path tops our rankings this year. A perennial favorite, it has been a standout among Eurobike Original Tours for many years and remains a true classic.

The route is free of major inclines, making it the perfect riverside cycling path for beginners and families. Along its course, the Danube transforms repeatedly, shifting from narrow gorges to expansive valley landscapes. Highlights include the Schlögener Schlinge river loop in Upper Austria, followed by a stop in Linz before heading into the enchanting Wachau. Did you know that the Wachau is considered one of Europe’s most beautiful river valleys? Majestic castles and palaces crown the hillsides, nestled among the vineyards.

In Austria's capital, Vienna, you can still experience the splendor of bygone eras. Along the Ringstraße, one grand building follows another—from the State Opera to the Museum of Art History.

Alpe Adria Cycle Path from Salzburg to Grado

Another timeless classic among cycling tours for all levels is the Alpe Adria Cycle Path from Salzburg to Grado. With a variety of options to suit every fitness level, you can take your time and enjoy the Alpine crossing at your own pace.

Your journey begins in the enchanting city of Mozart, Salzburg. Before you hop on your bike, wander through the old town, explore its fortress, stroll down charming alleys, and visit the Residenz. Tip: On a warm summer day, take a refreshing break at the stunning water features in Hellbrunn, it’s the perfect way to cool off and unwind.

From there, the route leads you toward Bad Gastein and onward to Carinthia. The Drau Cycle Path offers a gentle, smooth ride with a slight downhill slope. A highlight is the Renaissance-style Porcia Castle, followed by the lovely town of Villach, where you can already feel the warmth of southern living. Italy is now just a stone's throw away.

The climb to Tarvis is easily tackled by train. From your seat, watch as the landscape shifts from the dramatic Friulian Alps to the serene Mediterranean vineyards. Take a moment to pause and savor the dolce vita before discovering the harbor and the quaint streets of Grado’s old town.

Porto - Lisbon

The cycling tour from Porto to Lisbon may be a recent addition to our portfolio, but it has quickly become a favorite. In recent years, Portugal has emerged as a top destination for cycling enthusiasts, with its pleasant temperatures and abundant sunshine making it especially appealing.

Along the way, you'll explore two vibrant metropolises, each offering a unique blend of tradition and modernity, rich cultural heritage, and world-class cuisine. You'll also experience the rugged beauty of the west coast, dotted with charming fishing villages. Porto, with its historic city center—designated a UNESCO World Heritage site—and the famous Douro River, is a true highlight.

As you cycle south along the Atlantic coast, you'll pass through Aveiro, often referred to as the "Venice of Portugal" for its canals and salt flats, the lively coastal city of Figueira da Foz, and the waves of Nazaré. Lisbon will enchant you at every turn with its hilly old town of Alfama, the iconic Torre de Belém at the mouth of the Tagus River, and the modern Parque das Nações, home to the 1998 World Expo.

CO2 Offsetting on our Original Tours

Cycling tours are among the most eco-friendly modes of transportation, yet CO2 emissions are still generated. These emissions arise, for example, from electricity usage in accommodations, heating or air conditioning, the production of food for your meals, and even the transportation of luggage.

To offset these emissions, we apply the following principle: Through measures that either remove the same amount of CO2 from the atmosphere or prevent it elsewhere, we balance out the emissions. This includes reforestation projects for CO2 sequestration or switching to renewable energy sources.

To calculate the ecological footprint, we use the CO2 calculator "Carmacal," specifically developed for travel providers, and offset our CO2 emissions through projects supported by the Livelihoods Carbon Fund.
