In addition to the cycling stages, a varied program awaits you, including a ride on the "Bernina Express" and a boat excursion across Lake Como. Along the Adda River, you’ll cycle in the footsteps of Leonardo da Vinci.

Nestled in the Alps and welcoming you in true Italian fashion, the charming town of Tirano sets the stage for your vacation. Indulge in pasta and wine to kick off your journey, knowing you’ll burn off those calories as you ride along. Before hopping on your bike, enjoy a scenic ride aboard the renowned "Bernina Express." Majestic Alpine panoramas accompany the journey, and the day in chic St. Moritz flies by. The first cycling stage takes you along the Adda River, through picturesque valleys, and into historic towns, before reaching your destination for the day, Colico.

On Day 4 of your journey, you’ll have the flexibility to explore according to your preferences, with our tips guiding you along the loop tour around Colico, where you can visit the Fort of Montecchio or head to Chiavenna. The next day takes a more relaxed pace, as you board a boat on Lake Como, reaching the beautiful town of Bellagio, and later, Lecco. The cycling route continues to Trezzo sull’Adda, passing the locks built by Leonardo da Vinci. The final stretch takes you along the Martesana Cycle Path, where you’ll pass villas and mills by the canal, eagerly rolling into the city of Milan.

  • Luxurious charm and breathtaking landscapes: Nestled in the Upper Engadine, St. Moritz offers a wealth of outdoor activities both in winter and summer. The frozen lake hosts unique events such as the famous polo tournament and the White Turf horse races. In addition, exclusive shops, fine dining restaurants, and luxurious spas await.
  • Historic villas and delightful cuisine on Lake Como: Surrounded by charming villages like Bellagio, Varenna, and Menaggio, the lake offers breathtaking views of crystal-clear waters and majestic mountains. Explore luxurious villas and lush gardens lining the shores, including the famous Villa Balbianello.
  • Modern elegance in Milan: Known as Italy's fashion and design capital, Milan attracts fashion enthusiasts from around the world who stroll through the exclusive boutiques of Via Montenapoleone. But the city offers much more than just shopping: the majestic Milan Cathedral, Leonardo da Vinci's breathtaking "The Last Supper," and the world-famous Teatro alla Scala opera house are just a few of the many cultural highlights.

In Switzerland, you'll be greeted with stunning views of mountain passes, while the fashion capital boasts grand villas and historic architecture. The journey is mostly downhill, making the cycling effortless and enjoyable. Even more convenient, as our team takes care of your luggage—when you arrive at your next accommodation, it will be waiting for you.

Itinerary at a glance

With the famous Bernina Express through Switzerland, by boat across the beautiful Lake Como and in between varied cycle tours in the footsteps of Da Vinci to the fashion city of Milan with its impressive cathedral.

Lose yourself in the streets and explore the history of this town. Worth seeing are the Sforza walls in the historic centre, the pilgrimage church "Our Lady of Tirano" and the beautiful Art Nouveau buildings. Sample the delicacies of the local cuisine and wine. Bresaola, a delicious and healthy salami or pizzoccheri, a typical Valtellina tagliatelle made with buckwheat, are highly recommended.

Today you will be amazed and delighted by the journey on the famous "Bernina Express". The spectacular Alpine crossing takes you from Tirano to St. Moritz and returns in the evening. You will experience a fascinating journey through the Alps and breathtaking views. The highest point is reached at an altitude of 2253 metres, at the Ospizio Bernina. The stretch from Thusis to Tirano is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Today you start your tour with an easy descent along the River Adda. The "Sentiero Valtellina" cycle path takes you close to the small village of Teglio and on to Sondrio, the capital of the province of the same name. Morbegno has a beautiful old town centre, stroll through the narrow streets and admire the beautiful facades of the old buildings with their small wrought-iron balconies. Visit the church of St John the Baptist, a baroque collegiate church dating back to 1680, and one of the town's architectural landmarks is the Ganda Bridge, the only stone bridge over the River Adda.

Today you are spoilt for choice when it comes to discovering the surroundings of Colico. You can lose yourself in the hills by visiting the historic fort of Montecchio, the best preserved fortress from the First World War in Europe, or the fort of Fuentes, a Spanish military building dating back to 1600. You can also cycle along the lake promenade or explore the lake by water. Another option is a cycle tour to the north, towards Lake Mezzola or as far as the town of Chiavenna. Return along the same route, travelling slightly downhill, or take the train (not included).

In the morning, take a boat across the lake to Bellagio, the pearl of Lake Como. Take a break and enjoy the beauty of the lake. In the late afternoon, continue by boat to Lecco, the town where the writer Alessandro Manzoni wrote "I promessi sposi". Protected by numerous peaks, Lecco's historic centre still features the remains of the fortified village and the Azzone Visconti bridge. Also worth seeing are the Teatro della Società and the church of S. Nicolaus, whose tall bell tower indicates the direction of the harbour.

The beautiful cycle path on which you start today leads gently downhill along the River Adda. First you cycle through beautiful nature and then you will admire the canals and hydroelectric power stations. You will also follow in the footsteps of Leonardo da Vinci, whose ingenuity was used to build the locks and ferries and you will also discover places that inspired him to paint La Gioconda.

On your last cycle tour, you will cycle along the famous Martesana cycle path, a shipping canal designed by Leonardo Da Vinci and completed in 1496. The various sights include various stately villas (Villa Melzi in Vaprio, Villa Aitelli in Inzago, Villa Serbelloni in Gorgonzola, to name but a few), numerous mills, churches and old factories. You will gradually approach Milan, where you will spend the night. Enjoy the city's vitality, beauty and artistic heritage.
