Two cyclists taking a rest on a stone wall with a view of olive trees

Steep rocks, shimmering salt lakes, dreamy bays and ultimate peace and quiet. It’s perhaps not the first thing you’d think about when you think of the Balearic island of Mallorca! But you will after this trip! Eurobike shows you another side of Mallorca and takes you to the quiet heart of the island. In eight days you cycle through typical Mallorcan climes. Olive groves, orange trees and sleepy little villages left and right, day after day. At the end of your trip you’ll say only one thing: “Mallorca, mi corazón”!

You and your bike will be inseparable for eight days. On the first stage you will visit a famous natural spectacle on the island: the dragon caves in Porto Cristo. Continue along the coast through picturesque villages and enchanting bays. Tip: make a stopover in Cala Santanyi. Just take off your shoes and dip your toes into the saltwater. Via the sleepy village of Son Carrio you head to Manacor. From there you continue through rural areas and fragrant olive groves until you are back in Playa de Palma.

  • Manacor, the home of the pearl: The city of 30,000 inhabitants is the second largest after Palma, and is famous for Mallorcan pearls – which are factory made.
  • Campanet caves: Over 3,200 square metres, the spectacular stalactite caves unfold in the mountain of Sant Miquel in the Serra de Tramuntana. Definitely worth a visit!
  • Stop at the Binissalem vineyard: Are you a wine lover? Then Eurobike has the ultimate tip for you: The most famous wines of Mallorca are made in the tranquil village of Binissalem. See for yourself!

Your holiday begins as you step off the plane in Palma. For the next eight days you will cycle along gently undulating paths, secondary roads and commercial roads, which are kept as quiet as possible. The plan includes distances of between 35 and 65 kilometres daily. You will earn a glass of wine and plate of paella for sure! The all round trip promises unforgettable scenery and is perfect for the experienced holiday cyclist.

Typical wind turbines line the way to the saline fields of Llevant with its pink and white shimmering salt lakes. One of the most beautiful beaches in Majorca is the white sandy beach "Es Trenc". In Sant Jordi, you can enjoy even more beaches with crystal clear water.

Via Ses Salines to a botanical garden. Visit the picturesque bay near Cala Santanyi. Then cycle through little fishing villages to the famous natural bridge "Es Pontas". Near Porto Cristo you find the dragon caves with bizarre shapes and wall paintings. We recommend a visit with a guided tour!

Cycle via the sleepy village of Son Carrio to Manacor. Here you find the factories producing the famous  artificial pearls, called "Majoricas". Countless little shops offer souvenirs and hand-made ceramic everyday objects. Via Petra (typical Majorcan lunch snack will be prepared) and Santa Margalida through one of the most enchanting landscapes of the island to C’an Picafort. Today you are back to the sandy beaches lining the coast.

Hotel (example): Platja Daurada

Wonderful paths lead you along the World Cultural Heritage site Tramuntanas. This amazing mountain range serves as a backdrop for this valley lined by olive groves. The especially diverse limestone caves in Campanet are well worth a visit. Blending into the rural surroundings is also your accommodation for the next two days. You spend the night in one of the so-called Hotel Rurales, which ooze special charm and are kept and run in the traditional Finca-style.

Hotel (example): Hotel Monnaber Nou

Today’s tour takes you around the Puig de Inca, approx. 300 metres in height. You cycle through orange plantations and olive groves to countless Majorcan villages. Typical stone walls and village squares are the perfect places for a break. We recommend you definitely have a stop in the winegrowers’ village of Binissalem. This is the place where the most famous Majorcan wines are pressed and they can be sampled in various Bodegas.

A day of contrasts. Your tour starts in the rural hinterland and leads you through sleepy little villages. However, as soon asyou reach the coast, the island is awake and pulsating along the Playa. A wide variety of restaurants and leisure activities provide an entertaining final day of this holiday.
