Lanzarote attracts visitors year-round with its pleasant temperatures, making it an ideal destination for cyclists. The island is unique and distinctive—a synonym for volcanoes, lava fields, and oddly shaped rocks, showcasing the contrast of black and red earth against the white of the houses and the blue of the sea and sky. The landscape of the easternmost Canary Island is completed by rugged mountains with gentle contours, beautiful beaches with white and golden sands, lush palm groves... and tranquility, which is an integral part of Lanzarote's mysterious landscape. This is further enhanced by the architectural masterpieces of César Manrique, promising a truly exceptional experience.
Independent arrival in Lanzarote. After the transfer from the airport to the hotel, you can enjoy the amenities of the seaside resort.
Today's stage features the famous and unique architectural works of César Manrique, such as El Jardín de Cactus, Los Jameos del Agua, and El Mirador del Río, all of which are integral to the island's landscape. A visit to the volcanic cave "La Cueva" is also rewarding before you continue cycling along small fishing villages, eventually reaching the picturesque village of Haría, surrounded by countless palm trees.
From Haría, you’ll first cycle south to Teguise, the island’s former capital. This stage offers spectacular views of the coastline. Teguise itself is a charming small town, with the island’s characteristic white houses set against the dark volcanic earth. Stop by one of the cozy bars and treat yourself to a refreshing drink. From here, the route leads to San Bartolomé and through the fascinating wine-growing region of La Geria, where countless craters in the volcanic ash, known as Picón, enable a unique form of viticulture
Today’s tour takes you to one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, Famara, offering a breathtaking backdrop of volcanic cliffs. You'll cycle back to Teguise through lava fields that resemble a lunar landscape. For those who prefer not to ride, the day can be spent relaxing in the charming surroundings of Teguise.
The "Parque Nacional de Timanfaya" is one of the island’s main attractions, showcasing Lanzarote’s volcanic landscape at its most spectacular. The eruptions in the 18th century buried nearly a quarter of the entire island, creating the impressive lava and volcanic scenery you see today. After a brief stop at the El Golfo volcanic crater, you’ll reach your destination for the day, Playa Blanca.
Playa Blanca is located in the south of the island, with a clear view of the neighboring island of Fuerteventura on the horizon. Today, you can take a boat to Corralejo or cross over to Fuerteventura and explore part of the island on a cycling tour. The nearby coves and beaches of Papagayo invite you for a swim and are some of the finest on the island, untouched by tourism. Another option is visiting El Golfo, perhaps for a delicious seafood lunch?
From Playa Blanca, the route takes you back to the wine region of La Geria, where the unique viticulture techniques have created a captivating landscape. Continuing along the coast, you’ll reach Puerto del Carmen and Arrecife, with its charming El Charco harbor.
For the daily stages, a basic level of fitness is required. The first leg to Haría is somewhat challenging, but after that, the pace becomes more relaxed. Overall, it’s a fairly easy to moderate tour.
