A cyclist leans against a tree in the middle of the vineyards near Borgo Lorenzon

What would you write on a postcard from a cycling holiday in Veneto? Definitely that the cycle routes lead directly through beautiful vineyards, almost like paradise. Or that the views over the Prosecco hills are simply unique. The cuisine of Veneto should not be forgotten, of course. It tempts you with polenta, fresh fish and vegetables. Set off on a seven-day cycling holiday in Eastern Veneto with Eurobike and find out for yourself what could be on your postcard.

The area between the Piave and Sile rivers has until now been little used by tourists and is therefore ideal for a relaxing cycling holiday. For eight days you will explore the region, which is as famous for Prosecco as it is for Pinot Grigio – and of course the architectural highlights. But see for your yourself what awaits you on a cycling holiday in Veneto!

  • 4-star country hotel Relais Monaco in Treviso: The elegant ambiance of the villa will certainly captivate you on arrival. The hotel buildings are idyllically embedded in a large park. Enjoy the time after day tours while relaxing by the pool.
  • Prosecco tasting and learning: So that you can return home from your cycle tour as a sparkling wine expert, learn everything you need to know about the regional Prosecco at a tasting in the hotel.
  • Architectural highlights: Whether Andrea Palladio’s Villa Emo in Castelfranco Veneto or Treviso with its winding canals – a second and third look in at the cities is definitely worth it.

The tour begins in Ponzano Veneto with check-in at the enchanting Hotel Relais Monaco and a welcome drink on the terrace. Every day you cycle a bit more of Veneto and cover between 25 and 65 kilometres. The route mostly leads over low-traffic side roads and farm roads, and is mostly flat. Only the stage ‘Prosecco’ has three longer climbs, which are rewarded with unique views of the Prosecco hills.

Itinerary at a glance

Near Treviso, you'll stay in a villa with spacious grounds. Veneto is widely known for its first-class sparkling wines, especially the pretty Valdobbiadene. Villa Emo near Castelfranco Veneto is also worth a stop.

Employees of the hotel will provide you with your travel documents and rental bikes.

Today‘s stage leads you to the beautiful capital of the province, Treviso, a city still relatively unknown among tourists. The cycle path will guide you along the former city fortifications before entering the heart of the „citta delle aque“. The city owes this epithet to the numerous waterways that cross its centre. You continue past the dome, the palazzi and the patrician homes decorated with frescoes and into the open countryside before soon arriving at your hotel.

A leisurely cycle through the agricultural back-country starts the stage today, where lonely paths lead away to mysterious mansions. After traversing the Piave River you will follow the „Strada del Vino del Piave“. That is where the widely known Pinot Grigio has achieved real mastery. Cycling amidst grapevines for approx. 15km you can certainly risk a little tasting.

The focus of today’s stage is the charming small town Castelfranco Veneto, whose origins date back to the old Romans. It was them who erected the „castrum“ at the intersection of the old Roman roads to Vicenza, Padua and Asolo. The fortress was built centuries later, which is still entirely preserved today. On the way back, you will see the country estate „Villa Emo“, one of the masterpieces of the famous medieval architect Andrea Palladio and should definitely be visited (entrance not included!).

A morning transfer will take you to Valdobbiadene, the capital of the Prosecco region. The small piazza with its many coffee bars are very inviting – you should taste a cappuccino here!  A short climb will be rewarded with a gorgeous view of the almost never-ending grapevines. The lovely route will lead you through several wine villages, one of which will be your host when you are invited to a tasting of the world-famous sparkling wine (included). After that only a few kilometres remain and soon you will again reach your hotel.

Today‘s stage will again lead you towards Treviso. A former railway track, which was adapted to a cycle path, will guide you onwards to the natural reserve of the Sile River. You will reach and cross the small but famous river, which was one of the settings of the „Divine Comedy“ by Dante Alighieri.
