Do you have questions about this tour?

The start and finishing points of this stunningly beautiful tour are indeed the best-known cities in Tuscany. The leaning tower of Pisa as well as the Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence have a magic attraction to all visitors from around the world. On your bike however you also get to experience the - just as amazing - scenery in-between. This also means that each place that you stay each evening, due to their beauty, would be worth a separate holiday! Slow-paced and exciting cycling days await with lots of time to not only enjoy cultural but also scenic highlights. This cycling tour across a stunning area of Tuscany will be forever engrained in your memory!

The route from the beautiful city of Pisa in the west, to Florence in the centre of Tuscany will take you seven enjoyable days. In between? Lots of sights, scents, taste sensations and memories to be made. For example, the romantic spa town of Montecatini, a class of fine wine or the typical Tuscan scent of olive trees. You can look forward to 210 kilometres of cycling, which you will remember fondly for a very long time.

  • Tuscany, the easy way: Always hilly – that’s how you know Tuscany. This route will surprise you however, because it will cause no problems to hobby cyclists.
  • Culture in Pisa, Florence and Vinci: Culture lovers will get their money’s worth in these cities! Museums, historic squares and historic buildings – it’s worth taking a trip on your beloved bike.
  • Luggage service and travel preparation: Thanks to the Eurobike luggage service you can cycle luggage free every day. Your suitcases will be ready and waiting for you in the next accommodation. In addition, the extensive documents such as maps or GPS data ensure your holiday gets off to a good start.

For seven days, beginning in Pisa, every day you get closer to your destination. Finally landing in Florence with its historic flair. The cycle tour is especially for recreational cyclists with few gradients and runs mostly on side roads and dirt roads. About 35 to 55 kilometres are covered daily. Incidentally, you don’t have to worry about your luggage. The Eurobike luggage service brings your luggage to your next accommodation so you only have to cycle with your day bag.

Itinerary at a glance

Italy trips are pure pleasure! In Florence, the romantic cityscape and the Ponte Vecchio, as well as museums and cultural sites will enchant you. You will pass the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci and enjoy the fine cuisine in Tuscany.

In the evening welcome briefing and bike fitting. We recommend an initial visit of the magnificent old part of town that day.

From the square Piazza dei Miracoli, home of the ‚leaning tower’, you cycle on lovely paths towards lake Massaciuccoli. Here, you can enjoy the amazing views from a panorama road onto the lake and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Past countless olive groves until the river Serchio and continue along its cycle path to the centre of Lucca. You will not only enjoy the historic old part of town but also a circular cycle ride on top of the city wall.

Note several Baroque villas situated directly along the cycle route to Montecarlo. Located on top of a hill, this village is well-known for its excellent white wine – there is only a limited number of places in Tuscany for this grape to grow in such outstanding quality. Sampling a glass in one of the charming Enotecas is a must. Finally, you cycle through the Valdinievole valley where you will reach the famous spa resort of Montecatini.

Hotel (example): Francia & Quirinale

Cycle through olive groves on small paths from Montecatini to Vinci, Leonardo’s birthplace. Most impressive is the da Vinci museum capturing the genius of all his inventions. To get back to your accommodation, you cycle past rolling hills across the pretty landscape of Montalbano. A ride on the funicular to Montecatini Alto could be the crowning glory of this day.

Soon after just a few kilometres follows the biggest and most challenging ascent this week. As a reward afterwards, you get a short break in the small Medieal village of Montevettolini as well as fantastic views on to the Arno valley during the rest of the tour. Then onwards to Pistoia, which is not so well-known by tourists and called ‚Little Florence’. With its charming squares and impressive churches one is indeed reminded of the neighbouring town Florence.

Hotel (example): Hotel Palazzo 42

Today’s tour takes you through the shallow alluvial land between the rivers Arno and Ombrone. This fertile plain is the basis for the amazing plant variety with its especially well-known garden centres. In Poggio a Caiano, directly on your route you find one of the famous Medici villas. Onwards past cypressus alamedas to the Arno riverbanks and finally along the cycle path all the way to the Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence.
