Three cyclists on a cycle path in the mountains

Cycle with us through the valleys of the Isarco and Adige through beautiful South Tyrol. The wonderfully laid out cycle paths lead you through orchards and vineyards and offer you a magnificent view of the surrounding mountain landscape and lead you to the enchanting towns of Brixen, Bolzano and Merano as well as the beautiful Lake Caldaro. Explore sunny South Tyrol’s most beautiful side with us.

Before embarking on your cycling tour, you'll have ample time to explore the beautiful town of Bressanone and savor your first Italian and South Tyrolean delights. On Day 2, you'll begin by taking the train to the Brenner Pass and then cycle through the picturesque Isarco Valley, where castles and fortresses line your route.

The path to Bolzano leads you along an old railway track and through countless vineyards, before the next day's agenda includes a visit to Sigmundskron Castle and an opportunity to enjoy a swim in South Tyrol's lakes. On the stage to Merano, you'll first follow the Isarco and then the Adige River on top-notch cycling paths. As a grand finale, you'll cycle through the Venosta, with the towering King Ortler, the highest peak in South Tyrol, accompanying you!

  • Swimming in the lakes of South Tyrol: In addition to the impressive mountain scenery, the crystal-clear lakes are a must-visit. Feel free to take a plunge – after all, Lake Caldaro is known as the warmest bathing lake in the Alps. Serene and surrounded by forests and wetlands, the Montiggler Lakes are located in a nature reserve and are equally inviting for a swim.
  • Fragrant Orchards: Viticulture and fruit growing play an important role in South Tyrol - the many hours of sunshine offer the ideal climate. First and foremost, you will encounter apple trees on the tour, after all, there are over 7,000 growing farms in the region. But be sure to also taste the peaches, apricots, plums and wine!
  • Mediterranean lifestyle in Merano: A casual walk through the historic town will transport you to the city's enchanting ambiance. Meander down Merano's Laubengasse, where you can find gifts for your dear ones and enjoy a delightful cappuccino or a cooling gelato at the local cafés. Don't miss a visit to the Botanical Gardens at Trautmannsdorff Castle, and make sure to explore the Post Bridge and the thermal baths; they're all worthwhile stops.

With stage lengths ranging from 35 to 70 kilometers and two included train rides, this tour is perfect for leisure cyclists. In addition to the tours, you'll have plenty of time for swimming, leisurely strolls, and enjoyment. The cycling paths are excellently developed, and the panoramas are simply magnificent!

South Tyrol enthusiasts really get their money's worth at Eurobike, as we have dedicated numerous tours to this region.

In the morning there will be a transfer by train to the Brennero Pass. From the small border town Brennero, you will cycle on a good extended bike path, mostly along the river Isarco, first to the little village Gossensass and immediately afterwards to Vipiteno, the once mighty city of the Fugger. Here you can enjoy a long break before you will continue your tour on the bike path downhill to the beautiful Castle Reifenstein and Franzensfeste with the famous fortress. From there, only a few kilometers remain on your way back to Bressanone.

The old railway line from Bressanone to Bolzano has been adapted into a wonderful cycle path. The route leads gently downhill through the medieval town of Chiusa with its Säben monastery. The valley becomes narrower and narrower and the vineyards of Italy's northernmost wine-growing region come closer. Bolzano is reached all too soon! You should not miss a walk through the Laubengasse to the famous "Ötzimuseum" and a glass of wine at Waltherplatz.

Along the cycle path past Sigmundskron Castle with the Messner Mountain Museum to Appiano and on with fantastic views over the valley to Lake Caldaro. Wine and apples in abundance line the path. Back to Bolzano via the Lake Monticolo nature reserve with wonderful swimming opportunities.

From Bolzano you head southwards along the Isarco River and then on the new cycle path directly following the Adige River to Merano. The spa town at the confluence of the Passirio and Adige rivers awaits you with many sights. Visit the Provincial Castle, stroll along the Tappeinerweg and enjoy a creamy gelato on the spa promenade.

Take the Venosta Railway towards the Resia Pass. First, we go from Malles to Glorenza with its wonderfully preserved medieval town wall. Via the mining ruins we head through Silandro and down to Merano. Castles and palaces lie along the way, high above the path. Views of the impressive Ortler massif and the Stilfserjoch can be enjoyed while cycling. The route can be shortened as you like.
