The historic town of Stein am Rhein with a pleasure boat in the foreground

Sparkling waters, picturesque towns, and numerous activities and sights – Lake Constance is a popular travel destination for good reason and offers cycling vacations for all levels. Konstanz is your starting point for this six-day vacation. Daily excursions around the entire lake will take you both by bike and by boat. Enjoy the delightful atmosphere, stop at ice cream parlors and beer gardens, and take advantage of hot days to swim in the lake!

The old town of Konstanz is a wonderful “base” for your cycling vacation on Lake Constance, offering plenty to discover. One stage takes you via Friedrichshafen to Lindau, allowing ample time for extensive exploration, with the return journey by boat. The route to Mainau Island is a brief 15 kilometers, giving you plenty of time to explore the beautiful island and its many flowers.

On the third day of the excursion, cycling and ferry rides alternate as you pedal to Wallhausen and then take the boat to Überlingen. Cultural highlights for the day include Salem Castle and Monastery. The final stage leads you to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Reichenau Island, across the Hör Peninsula, and to Stein am Rhein.

  • Sightseeing in Konstanz: Your starting point is brimming with attractions! Highlights include Konstanz Minster, the largest late Romanesque church on Lake Constance, and the historic council building. The picturesque old town, adorned with colorful timber-framed houses, the Baden-Württemberg State Archaeological Museum, and the Rheinstrandbad are all well worth exploring.
  • Mainau, the flower island, is renowned for its stunning gardens, showcasing a diverse array of colorful flowers and plants from around the world. During your visit, you can marvel at the vibrant blooms in various themed gardens, such as the rose garden, the butterfly house, and the palm house. Other highlights include Schloss Mainau, the baroque Church of St. Marien, and the Mediterranean terraced garden. The island also offers magnificent views of Lake Constance and the Alps.
  • The picturesque island of Reichenau enchants visitors with its scenic landscape, historic monasteries, and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Be sure to visit the island's three Romanesque churches—St. George, St. Peter and Paul, and St. Mary and St. Mark—all recognized as World Heritage Sites.

This cycling tour offers a fantastic program, with shorter stages to allow ample time for activities. In addition to various boat and ferry rides, admission to the Konstanz Rose Garden and Salem Castle is included. The routes along the lake are flat, while the hinterland features occasional hills.

Discovering one of Central Europe's largest lakes leaves no room for boredom, particularly with its breathtaking scenery captivating visitors from the outset. Along the Lake Constance Cycle Path, traversing three countries—Austria, Germany, and Switzerland—hospitality and culinary pleasures take center stage.
