In Hansa’s Footsteps
Over the course of eight days, you'll journey through the historical roads of the Hansa. The route is adorned with impressive cities like Lübeck, Wismar, and Schwerin. En route, you'll pause at expansive sandy beaches and the picturesque lakes of northern Germany. Castles and country estates beckon your visit, amidst manicured parks alternating with wildly romantic coastal scenery. Join us by the sea, revel in the breeze tousling your hair, and indulge in the characteristic specialties at the cozy restaurants.
The Hanseatic and UNESCO World Heritage city of Lübeck serves as the starting point of your journey. Along the Baltic Sea coast, you'll encounter spectacular views, especially from the cliffs in Brooker Wald. The following day, immerse yourself in the equally impressive city of Wismar. You'll also relish a brief visit to the charming island of Poel. The route continues along the Wallensteingraben, passing by windmills and delightful hidden gems en route to Schwerin.
One day of the excursion is dedicated to the idyllic Schwerin Lakes - embark on a boat outing and enjoy the view of Schwerin Castle. From there, the route leads into the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park. Your overnight stay in Ratzeburg is situated amidst the lakes, which you reach via the dams connecting the mainland with the island town. Before returning to Lübeck via the Old Salt Route, take a stop in the Eulenspiegel town of Mölln.
On multiple days, you have the option to choose between a shorter or longer route—decide spontaneously based on your preference. The route is predominantly flat, with a few hilly sections adding variety to your cycling adventure. Ferry and boat journeys provide enjoyable breaks during the cycling stages.

It was our first time at the Baltic Sea and we really loved it there. It is calm, beautiful and really impressive. We also enjoyed the boat trip on Lake Schwerin and it was worth it. All in all a successful cycling trip.
