Embarking on the long-distance cycling route known as Vélodyssée, you'll begin your journey in La Rochelle and gradually come to appreciate—and love—this beautiful region over six stages!

Discover the charming old town of La Rochelle before hopping on your bike on the second day of your journey towards Rochefort. The ride through the saltworks offers an intriguing experience, followed by a visit to the oyster farm in Marennes—be sure to plan a culinary stop! From La Tremblade to Royan, you'll cycle along the coast, treating yourself to wonderful views along the way.

The journey continues to Blaye via the port town of Mortagne-sur-Gironde. The marinas along the way exude an enchanting maritime flair, while the last few kilometers lead inland along the river. The final stage takes you through vineyards—savor the fantastic landscape before reaching the destination of your cycling vacation, Bordeaux.

  • The ambience of the French coastal towns: Whether Chatelaillon-Plage or Mortagne-sur-Gironde, the picturesque towns beckon you to stroll along the promenades and wander through the old town alleyways. Explore charming boutiques and soak in the lively atmosphere while sipping a glass of wine or café au lait.
  • Stately villas near Royan: Marvel at the architectural gems from the 1950s as you stroll along the beach promenade. A visit to the Palais des Congrès de Royan also promises cultural events and exhibitions, but Royan boasts more than just its beautiful villa buildings. • Enchanting Bordeaux: Renowned for its wine production, the city offers a captivating blend of historic architecture and vibrant culture. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the old town beckons exploration, while wine tastings at the surrounding vineyards promise an unforgettable experience.

The La Vélodyssée long-distance cycling route begins in the southwest of England and winds through Brittany to the Atlantic coast. Throughout this region, the sea accompanies you along your journey. Don't forget to pack your swimwear, as there are plenty of beaches where you can cool off. The cycling paths are generally easy to navigate, with a few inclines that may require some fitness. A crossing at the Rochefort ferry bridge is included in the tour package, and our team will handle the daily transportation of your luggage.

Whether in Provence or Brittany, our cycling tours in France promise an abundance of picturesque landscapes and cultural attractions. Add to that the delightful cuisine, charming towns, and the unique French flair as you wander through markets and alleyways.
