Family cycle path from Tarvisio to Udine through tunnels

From the sunniest state in Austria along the Southern side of the Alps to the sea, this family cycle holiday takes you to impressive natural spectacles, cultural diversity and gastronomic delicacies. Taste Carinthian ‚Kasnudln‘, marvel at the peaks of the Carnic Alps, treat yourself to a creamy gelato in a piazza in Udine and finally reward yourself with a dip in the refreshing Adriatic Sea. There is a lot to discover for the entire family on the second part of the Alpe-Adria cycle path from Villach to Grado.

The cross-border cycle path from the Austrian Alps to the Italian Adriatic usually starts in the Mozart city of Salzburg. However this shortened version for the whole family begins in Villach and crosses the border to Tarvisio, Udine, Palmanova and Grado. An amazing route for young and old, which certainly leaves nothing to be desired.

  • Fortified City of Palmanova: The star-shaped fortified city of Palmanova with the huge Piazza Grande is an architectural masterpiece. The structure of the city with the piazza as the centre invites the whole family to stroll and be amazed.
  • Roman City of Aquileia: Follow the footsteps of the ancient Romans in Aquileia. The so-called „Second Rome“ must not be missed under any circumstances, since the Roman city of Aquileia was once one of the largest Mediterranean cities of the empire.
  • Grado: At the end of the holiday, one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Adriatic awaits you and your children. The sandy beaches and the cool sea are perfect for a refreshing dip after a week on your bike.
  • Lagune di Grado: The unique landscape impresses with its fauna and lush flora, which changes colours several times a day due to the play of light. Experience an unforgettable natural spectacle in the lagoon of Grado.

Two countries, seven days, 150 kilometres by bike and all this with the entire family. It sounds impossible, however thanks to our family cycle tour on the Alpe-Adria cycle path, it is not. Pack your children and suitcases and cycle the cross-border section of the well-known and well-developed Alpe-Adria cycle path. Cycling fun for the whole family is guaranteed here!
